Day 18: Moving On

It's quiet here.

Both children are sleeping, tv is off, hubby is on a trip.

I just came in from the garden, driven in by the mosquitoes and a need to flip through my "Right Plant, Right Place", to figure out where to move the Mock Orange. I've heard they can grow up to 10 feet but the marker on the plant says 4. Nonetheless, I want to plant a tree in the spot that houses 6 Mock and a variety of Evergreens. My head says apple but I picture a Japanese Maple in red, with delicate branches weeping softly from the top right corner of the yard. Practical vs idealistic. I think the Maple is winning out.

We'll see...

So, today marks the start of 10 days flying solo with the kids. We saw my beloved off at the airport and immediately began our adventure by picking up my Gran (at 87 years of age) and going to my bro's graduation. Yay Bro! I have plans to tackle some yet to be known aspect of the house, something besides the garden. Perhaps get our room in shape, fill the bookcase now in the diningroom with gardening books for future reference. I would love to be at the point where I paint or tile.

We'll see...

We'll see is my go to catch phrase these days. Whenever I start to plan and sense critism (or whatever) from either myself or whomever I happen to be talking to, I divert with a "we'll see". End of discussion, segue to the next. I'm pretty good at changing the topic, getting people out of one frame of mind and into the next. I think this is a good skill to have with little kids or mothers (Hi Mom!) or grandmothers. Sometimes you just need to move on...

Anyways...
